SB 1146: An Act Concerning Cross-Endorsements

• Prohibits candidates who receive a party nomination from appearing on the ballot by nominating petition for the same office, effective January 1, 2014.

• Prevents any candidate not enrolled as a party member from being endorsed by that party.

• Eliminates provisions allowing head moderators to attribute cross-endorsed candidate votes proportionally among endorsing parties when electors vote for the same candidate multiple times.

• Removes the calculation methodology that previously allowed votes for cross-endorsed candidates to be distributed among endorsing parties based on percentages and rounding rules.

• Simplifies ballot tabulation by preventing tabulators from recording more than one vote per elector for the same person for an office.
