Repeals and replaces Section 17a-22ee of the 2014 supplement to the general statutes to establish definitions and requirements for animal-assisted services in Connecticut.

Defines "animal-assisted activity" as interaction between registered therapy animals and individuals, and creates new definition of "canine disaster stress relief team" consisting of trained, evaluated and registered handlers and canines.

Requires the Commissioner of Children and Families to develop training by July 1, 2014 for DCF employees and mental health providers on the therapeutic value of animals, therapy animals, and animal-assisted activities.

Directs the Commissioner of Children and Families in consultation with the Commissioner of Agriculture to identify a coordinated volunteer canine disaster stress relief team by October 1, 2014 that can provide animal-assisted therapy within 24 hours of notification.

Requires development of an animal-assisted activity program by January 1, 2015 in consultation with the Governor's Prevention Partnership to provide animal-assisted therapy and activities to children and youths experiencing trauma and loss.
