Requires public schools to include instruction on the safe use of social media for grades 6-8, effective July 1, 2014.

Defines safe social media use according to section 9-601 of the general statutes.

Adds social media education to the list of mandatory subject matter in public school curricula alongside health, safety, and accident prevention.

Instruction must be provided by legally qualified teachers as part of the existing health and safety curriculum requirements.
