Adds fire marshals, deputy fire marshals, fire inspectors, building officials appointed under section 29-260, and assistant building officials to the list of protected personnel under Connecticut's assault statute (53a-167c).

Assault of these newly protected officials is classified as a class C felony when committed with intent to prevent them from performing their duties.

Assault includes causing physical injury, throwing objects or harmful substances, using mace or tear gas, or throwing bodily fluids at the protected personnel.

Effective October 1, 2014.
