Allows teachers' retirement system members to retain their coparticipant option after divorce by filing a qualified domestic relations order with the board, effective July 1, 2014.

Under prior law, a coparticipant option was automatically terminated if the designated coparticipant died or was divorced from the member after retirement, with the member reverting to their normal or proratable retirement benefit.

Restructures subdivision (3) of section 10-183j(d) into subparagraphs (A) and (B) to clarify that retention through a qualified domestic relations order is an exception to the general termination rule.

Amends the general statutes section 10-183j(d) effective July 1, 2014.
