Secretary of the State, in consultation with the University of Connecticut, may authorize a demonstration project using electronic equipment to conduct audits required under section 9-320f for primary and general elections in at least three towns in 2014.

Participating towns must obtain approval from their legislative body (or board of selectmen in town meeting municipalities) and local registrars of voters before using the electronic equipment.

Secretary of the State must establish specifications for testing, setup, operation of the equipment, and training of election officials in its use.

Secretary must submit a report with recommendations for implementing audit procedures from the demonstration project to the joint standing committee on elections no later than February 1, 2015.

Nothing in the act prevents candidates or electors from pursuing additional remedies under chapter 149 of the general statutes based on information obtained from audits conducted under this section.
