Municipalities may adopt ordinances requiring applicants for on-premises alcoholic liquor permit renewals to simultaneously notify the chief law enforcement official or designee of the town where the business is located.

The chief law enforcement official or designee may submit written comments to the Commissioner of Consumer Protection within 15 days of receiving notice, which the commissioner must consider before approving the renewal application.

The Commissioner of Consumer Protection must submit a report to the General Assembly's joint standing committees on local government, public safety and security, and alcoholic beverages by January 1, 2015.

The report must include the number of written comments submitted by law enforcement officials, copies of those comments, a summary of permit decisions made, and the commissioner's recommendations regarding the notice requirement.
