Home improvement contractors and salesmen must wear personalized identification badges in a conspicuous place whenever performing, engaging, or attempting to engage in home improvement business, effective January 1, 2015.

The commissioner shall issue identification badges that include a color photograph, name, registration number, business name, and Connecticut eLicensing website address, with the photograph taken within four weeks of issuance.

Identification badges must be designed to be immediately and permanently destroyed if altered, and contractors or salesmen must obtain a new badge at least once every six years.

The commissioner may charge a reasonable fee not to exceed $30 to cover identification badge costs.

Contractors or salesmen whose registration is revoked, suspended, or not renewed must surrender their identification badge to the commissioner within three business days.
