State Board of Education must develop or approve a sudden cardiac arrest awareness education program by July 1, 2015, for use in all local and regional schools, covering warning signs (fainting, chest pain, dizziness, abnormal heart rate), risks of continued athletics participation, medical treatment methods, and return-to-play protocols.

State Board of Education must create an informed consent form by July 1, 2015, summarizing the cardiac arrest awareness program and school policies, which coaches must distribute to and obtain signed acknowledgment from parents or guardians of student athletes before each season beginning July 1, 2015.

All coaches holding coaching permits must annually review the sudden cardiac arrest awareness education program prior to starting their coaching assignment each season beginning July 1, 2015.

State Board of Education may revoke coaching permits of coaches who violate the review requirements under Section 2.

Coaches are granted immunity from suit and liability for actions taken pursuant to these provisions unless such actions constitute willful misconduct, gross negligence, or recklessness.
