Commissioner of Consumer Protection shall issue off-site farm winery sales and tasting permits to farm winery manufacturers in compliance with section 30-16 of general statutes, effective July 1, 2014.

Permit authorizes sale and free wine samples at up to seven events or functions per year held under temporary liquor, charitable organization, or nonprofit corporation permits at locations outside the winery's premises.

Permit holders must notify Department of Consumer Protection at least five business days before each event, sell only wine by the bottle, and be present or have an authorized representative present during all sales and tastings.

Annual permit fee is $250 with a $100 nonrefundable filing fee; permit is valid for one year from issuance date.

Towns and municipalities may prohibit off-site farm winery sales and tastings within their jurisdiction through ordinance or zoning regulation.
