Commissioner of Consumer Protection shall develop and implement a pharmaceutical collection and disposal program effective October 1, 2014, in consultation with the Commission of Pharmacy and Connecticut Pharmacists Association.

Program enables individuals to anonymously drop off unwanted pharmaceuticals at licensed pharmacies and arranges transport of collected medications to biomedical waste treatment facilities for proper disposal.

Commissioner of Consumer Protection must conduct a public awareness campaign to educate the public about dangers of unsafe pharmaceutical disposal and the availability of the collection program.

Commissioner shall adopt regulations in accordance with state law to implement the provisions of this act.
