Adds fire marshals, deputy fire marshals, fire inspectors, building officials, and assistant building officials to the list of protected personnel under the assault of public safety personnel statute (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 53a-167c)

Extends Class C felony penalties to assaults against these officials when they are performing their duties, including causing physical injury, throwing objects, using mace or tear gas, or throwing bodily fluids at them

Applies the same assault definitions and protections already extended to peace officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and health care workers

Requires that any term of imprisonment for assault on a Department of Correction employee must run consecutively to the sentence the person was already serving

Takes effect October 1, 2014
