Contractors with 50 or more employees awarded public works contracts exceeding $50,000 at Southern Connecticut State University must comply with new workforce diversity standards in addition to existing affirmative action plan requirements.

Contractors performing work at Southern Connecticut State University must ensure that at least 25 percent of workers in each class of work are from minority groups and at least 6.9 percent are female.

Affirmative action plans filed by contractors at Southern Connecticut State University must be reviewed and approved by the commission within 60 days before contract award.

Failure to develop an approved affirmative action plan bars contractors from bidding on or being awarded future contracts until requirements are met; approved plans receive a two-year certificate of compliance.

Effective date for all provisions is July 1, 2014, amending existing sections 46a-68c and 46a-68d and creating new standards in section 3.
