Modifies Section 7-51a of the general statutes to clarify language regarding genealogists' access to vital records, effective October 1, 2014

Members of genealogical societies incorporated or authorized by the Secretary of the State shall have full access to vital records held by registrars of vital statistics for genealogical research purposes, including certificates, ledgers, record books, card files, indexes, and database printouts

Exempts from genealogist access records containing Social Security numbers protected by federal law (42 USC 405(c)(2)(C)) and confidential files on adoptions, gender change, gestational agreements, and paternity

Permits registrars to either grant immediate access to vital records or require genealogists to schedule appointments, with appointments to be scheduled as soon as reasonably practicable

Requires Social Security numbers on vital records to be redacted from any certified copies issued to genealogists
