Allows school boards to shorten or waive expulsion periods for first-time expelled pupils who have never been suspended, provided they complete a board-specified program at no cost to the pupil or parents, except for pupils expelled for firearm or deadly weapon possession.

Requires automatic expungement of expulsion notices from a pupil's cumulative educational record upon high school graduation, except for pupils in grades 9-12 expelled for firearm or deadly weapon possession.

Permits school boards to expunge expulsion notices before graduation if a pupil completes the board-specified program and meets required conditions, or if the pupil demonstrates improved conduct and behavior over time.

Allows school boards to consider evidence of subsequent disciplinary problems when deciding whether to expunge expulsion notices under the conduct and behavior standard.

Effective July 1, 2014.
