HB 6714 Summary

• Requires the Commissioner of Social Services, in consultation with the Commissioner of Developmental Services, to seek Medicaid plan amendments, federal waivers, or programmatic changes to provide or expand physical activity programs for persons with autism spectrum disorder.

• Includes transportation services to and from physical activity programs as part of the Medicaid-financed services for persons with autism spectrum disorder.

• Mandates annual reporting to the joint standing committee with cognizance of public health matters on the status of Medicaid amendments, waivers, and implementation of physical activity programs, beginning January 1, 2015.

• Establishes the Division of Autism Spectrum Disorder Services within the Department of Developmental Services to research, design, and implement services and programs for residents with autism spectrum disorder of all ages.
