Effective July 1, 2016, real estate broker license applicants must have been actively engaged as a licensed real estate salesperson in Connecticut for at least two years under broker supervision.

Broker applicants must complete four required courses: real estate principles and practices (60 classroom hours), real estate legal compliance (15 classroom hours), real estate brokerage principles and practices (15 classroom hours), and two elective courses (15 classroom hours each).

The commission may waive the two elective courses if an applicant has successfully completed at least twenty real estate transactions within the five years immediately preceding application.

Real estate transaction is defined as any transaction in which real property is legally transferred to another party or a lease agreement is executed between a landlord and tenant.

Real estate salesperson license applicants must complete a course in real estate principles and practices (60 classroom hours) or have equivalent experience or education as determined by the commission.
