Defines "alternative education" as a nontraditional educational setting maintained by local or regional boards of education that addresses social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of students, effective July 1, 2015.

Requires the State Board of Education to develop guidelines for alternative education including purpose, eligibility criteria, and entry/exit procedures, and directs the Department of Education to assign identification codes to track alternative education programs in the public school information system.

Mandates that local and regional boards of education post information about alternative education offerings on their websites, including purpose, location, contact information, staff directory, and enrollment criteria.

Allows boards of education to provide alternative education using existing school space or by establishing new schools, subject to all federal and state laws governing public schools.

Updates strategic school profile reporting requirements to include alternative education data and allows cooperative arrangements among multiple boards of education to provide alternative education services.
