Insurance Commissioner shall conduct a comprehensive study of abuse-deterrent and nonabuse-deterrent opioid analgesics in Connecticut.

Study must examine health insurance coverage for each opioid analgesic type, dispensation frequency over the prior twelve months, manufacturer cost comparisons, out-of-pocket expenses for insureds, and availability of generic abuse-deterrent opioids.

Study shall include summary of any guidance documents published by the federal Food and Drug Administration on abuse-deterrent opioid analgesics during the year.

Insurance Commissioner must submit report to the joint standing committee on insurance by February 1, 2016.

Effective from passage.
