Effective July 1, 2015, licensed driver's education instructors may offer the Department of Motor Vehicles' required eight-hour drug and alcohol education class through adult education classes, nonprofit organizations, or municipal outlets at reduced or no cost.

All certified driver's education schools must offer an online version of the eight-hour drug and alcohol education class by July 1, 2015, with fees capped at no more than 50 percent of in-person instruction costs.

Purpose is to increase access and opportunity for individuals seeking a Connecticut driver's license.
