Replaces terminology throughout the statute from "mental illness" and "hospital for mental illness" to "psychiatric disability" and "hospital for psychiatric disabilities" for consistency with section 53a-13.

Clarifies that "conditional release" means release of an acquittee from a hospital for psychiatric disabilities to the board's jurisdiction for supervision and treatment, including monitoring of mental and physical health.

Allows transfer of an acquittee with an outstanding term of imprisonment to the Department of Correction to complete that sentence while under the Psychiatric Security Review Board's jurisdiction.

Permits courts to transfer an acquittee to the Department of Correction for pretrial detention when charged with felony or class A misdemeanor offenses if the acquittee poses a significant safety risk to hospital patients, staff, and visitors.

Requires the Psychiatric Security Review Board to hold a hearing and take action under sections 17a-584 and 17a-585 prior to conclusion of any sentence imposed by the court.
