Defines "coach" as any individual who volunteers or is paid to supervise or instruct participants in organized athletic activities, including head coaches, assistant coaches, clinicians, managers, and instructors.

Defines "operator" as any municipality, business, or nonprofit organization that conducts, coordinates, organizes, or oversees organized athletic activities.

Excludes college, university, intramural, and interscholastic athletics from the definition of "organized athletic activity," as well as athletic activities incidental to nonathletic programs or academic lessons.

Effective October 1, 2016, prohibits an employer-employee relationship from existing between operators and coaches or referees unless both parties mutually agree in writing to establish such a relationship.
