The Insurance Commissioner shall conduct a study on health insurance coverage of automatic prefilled epinephrine injectors and similar automatic injectable equipment for delivering epinephrine in standard doses for emergency allergic reaction treatment.

The study shall cover health insurance policies and health benefit plans delivered, issued, renewed, amended or continued in the state, including classification of injectors under such plans and out-of-pocket expenses charged to insured individuals.

The study shall investigate existing opportunities and possible ways to assist individuals in procuring epinephrine injectors at reduced cost.

The Insurance Commissioner shall submit a report on study findings to the joint standing committee having cognizance of insurance matters no later than January 1, 2017.

The act takes effect from passage.
