Insurance Commissioner shall conduct a study comparing abuse-deterrent and nonabuse-deterrent opioid analgesics in the state

Study shall examine health insurance coverage for each opioid type, dispensation frequency over twelve months, manufacturer costs, and out-of-pocket expenses for insureds

Study shall review availability of generic abuse-deterrent opioid analgesics and summarize FDA guidance documents on the subject published during 2015 and 2016

Insurance Commissioner must submit a report to the joint standing committee on insurance no later than January 1, 2017

Act takes effect from passage
