Commissioner of Housing must conduct a study of emergency power generator needs at public housing for the elderly, in consultation with the Commissioner on Aging and Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection, effective July 1, 2016.

Study must inventory public housing for the elderly in each municipality, including total units, locations, unit types, and current emergency generator availability.

Study must include recommendations for providing emergency power generators, estimated costs, and information on available grants through the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security or other state and federal sources.

"Public housing for the elderly" is defined as buildings where at least 50 percent of units are rented to persons age 62 and older under programs created or financed pursuant to state statute chapter 128.

Commissioner of Housing must report findings to the joint standing committees on aging, housing, and public safety no later than January 1, 2017.
