Amends Section 30-14a of the general statutes to increase the population threshold for issuing package store permits from one permit per 25 residents to one permit per 7,500 residents, as determined by the most recent decennial census.

Effective January 1, 2017, and applies only to new permits issued on or after that date.

The Department of Consumer Protection retains authority to issue package store permits under the new population threshold requirement.

Existing permit holders maintain the ability to renew their permits or transfer them to qualified purchasers or transferees who meet chapter eligibility requirements.
