Appropriates $300,000 to the Department of Public Health for fiscal year ending June 30, 2017 to fund a traumatic brain injury treatment pilot program.

Program provides evidence-based clinical decision support tools to critical care units at three trauma hospitals selected by the Commissioner of Public Health based on severe head trauma patient volume, staff commitment, and focus on quality care.

Clinical decision support tool will be used by physicians and nurses in real time at the point of care to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs for severe head injuries.

Commissioner must submit a report to relevant legislative committees describing the pilot program, participating hospitals, and findings on patient outcomes and healthcare costs.

Effective date: July 1, 2016.
