Allows a deputy registrar of voters who is a candidate for the office of registrar of voters to perform their official duties at polling places on election day, matching an existing exception for municipal clerks and registrars of voters running for the same office.

Amends Section 9-258 of the general statutes to add the deputy registrar candidate exception to both municipalities with multiple voting districts and those with single voting districts.

Clarifies Section 9-236(c) to explicitly permit election officials, including deputy registrar candidates, to be present in polling places while performing their duties, separate from the general prohibition on candidates serving at polls.

Effective from passage for both amended sections.
