Departments of Administrative Services and Emergency Services and Public Protection shall conduct a study to find a suitable replacement for the firearms training facility in Simsbury to meet training needs.

Departments must consult with owners of firearms training facilities in the state (federal, state, or private) to determine feasibility of using existing facilities or combinations of facilities.

A report on study results must be submitted by January 1, 2018 to the joint standing committee on public safety and security.

Department of Administrative Services is prohibited from entering into contracts to purchase or lease real property for constructing a new firearms training facility until the required report is submitted.
