HB 6208 Summary

• Establishes minimum wage of $10.10 per hour effective January 1, 2017, increasing to $11.00 (Jan. 1, 2018), $12.00 (Jan. 1, 2019), $13.00 (Jan. 1, 2020), $14.00 (Jan. 1, 2021), and $15.00 (Jan. 1, 2022).

• Beginning July 1, 2022, and each July 15 thereafter, the Labor Commissioner shall automatically adjust the minimum wage based on the consumer price index for the northeast urban area, rounded to the nearest five cents, effective the following January 1.

• Minimum wage shall remain at least one-half of one percent higher than the federal minimum wage, or the established state rate, whichever is greater.

• Learners and workers under age 18 shall earn 85% of the minimum wage for the first 200 hours of employment, then the full minimum wage thereafter.

• Act takes effect October 1, 2017, amending Section 31-58 of the general statutes.
