Modifies unemployment compensation eligibility requirements to require individuals to verify they are actively seeking employment by appearing in person each month at a location designated by the administrator.

Changes the standard from simply being directed to apply for available work to actively verifying "reasonable effort" in job seeking through monthly in-person verification.

Maintains existing disqualification period where ineligible individuals remain ineligible until they return to work and earn at least six times their individual benefit rate.

Preserves all existing protections against unsuitable work, including positions related to labor disputes, substantially less favorable conditions, union requirements, unsafe hours, or conflicts with former employer recalls.

Takes effect October 1, 2017 and amends General Statutes section 31-236(a)(1).
