Each board of education must file a copy of its end-of-year school report with the town clerk within 10 business days of submission to the Commissioner of Education, effective July 1, 2017.

Special education expenses and information identifying individual students must be redacted from the end-of-year school report filed with the town clerk.

Town boards of finance may increase, decrease, or eliminate any noneducational expenses in proposed budgets submitted by local boards of education, effective July 1, 2017.

The bill aims to enhance oversight and transparency of local boards of education.
