Establishes a task force to study the projected shortage in the psychiatry workforce, including examination of causes and potential solutions.

Task force composition includes nine members: two each appointed by the House Speaker and Senate President Pro Tempore (with expertise in psychiatry and workforce development), one each from House and Senate majority and minority leaders, and the Commissioner of Mental Health and Addiction Services or designee.

All appointments must be completed within 30 days of the effective date, with the first meeting scheduled within 30 days thereafter.

Task force shall submit findings and recommendations to the joint standing committee on public health no later than July 1, 2018, and shall terminate upon submission of the report or July 1, 2018, whichever is earlier.

Joint standing committee on public health staff shall provide administrative support to the task force.
