Establishes a task force to study feasibility of prioritizing residential building inspections by fire marshals based on building type, age, and fire suppression systems.

Examines creating a new certified inspector type for residential-only inspections and expanding municipal programs to encourage landlord-scheduled inspections.

Task force consists of 8 members including two mayors/fire marshals appointed by legislative leaders, fire chiefs, Connecticut Fire Marshals Association representative, landlord representative, municipal attorney, Commissioner of Administrative Services, and State Fire Marshal.

All appointments must be made within 30 days of enactment, with first meeting required within 60 days.

Task force must submit findings and recommendations to the joint standing committee on public safety and security by February 1, 2018, and terminates upon report submission or that date, whichever is later.
