Modifies Section 31-60 of general statutes effective October 1, 2017 to exclude gratuities from minimum wage calculations if an employer imposes a surcharge on or reduces the gratuity paid through a credit card transaction.

Establishes that the Labor Commissioner shall recognize specific percentages of minimum wage as gratuities for hotel and restaurant workers (36.8% for non-bartenders, 18.5% for bartenders) only when gratuities are not subject to surcharges or reductions from credit card transactions.

Requires employers who impose surcharges on or reduce gratuities through credit card transactions to post prominent notice of such surcharge or reduction on their premises to inform patrons.

Effective from passage for the notice requirement; effective October 1, 2017 for amendments to the minimum wage gratuity recognition provisions.
