HB 7203 Summary

• Department of Education shall conduct a study of the impact of Connecticut's racial imbalance law (sections 10-226a to 10-226e of general statutes) on school districts.

• Study must identify all school districts where the State Board of Education found racial imbalance exists and provide status updates on all plans to correct such imbalance, including explanations for any disapprovals.

• Study shall analyze school district demographics from five years prior to any racial imbalance finding and assess how demographics have changed.

• Department must submit study findings and legislative recommendations to the State Board of Education and the joint standing committee on education by January 1, 2018.
