Effective July 1, 2017, certified employees and applicants for remedial reading, remedial language arts, or reading consultant endorsements must pass an approved reading instruction examination and complete a program of study in diagnosis and remediation of reading and language arts

Required program of study must include supervised practicum hours and instruction in detection, recognition, and evidence-based structured literacy interventions for students with dyslexia as defined in section 10-3d

Effective July 1, 2018, certified employees and applicants for comprehensive special education or integrated early childhood and special education endorsements must complete the same program of study in reading diagnosis, remediation, and dyslexia interventions
