Replaces archaic pronouns and outdated language throughout the Connecticut Penal Code with gender-neutral and clearer terms effective October 1, 2017.

Updates section 53a-28(a) to clarify that sentencing must follow provisions of the title, except where inconsistent with sections 17a-699 and chapter 420b.

Revises section 53a-118 to replace pronouns like "him," "therein," and "thereof" with phrases such as "another person," "in such property," and "of such property" in property crime definitions.

Modifies section 53a-119a(a) to use gender-neutral language in retail theft detention provisions and clarifies language regarding interrogation and identification procedures.

Changes sections 53a-174, 53a-3(10), and 53a-32(a) to replace archaic pronouns and ambiguous references with explicit, gender-neutral language in statutes covering contraband in correctional institutions, firefighter definitions, and probation violations.
