Amends sentencing guidelines for felonies and misdemeanors to impose enhanced penalties for second or subsequent family violence crimes committed within the vision or hearing of a minor child.

For felony family violence crimes committed in front of a child, requires sentences at least 25% greater than the minimum term but no more than 25% greater than the maximum term for the offense.

For misdemeanor family violence crimes committed in front of a child, requires sentences at least 25% greater than the minimum term but no more than 25% greater than the maximum term, provided the term does not exceed one year.

Applies to crimes defined as family violence under section 46b-38a of the general statutes.

Effective October 1, 2017.
