Connecticut General Assembly expresses sympathy and condolences on the death of State Representative Mary Fritz, who passed away on July 9, 2016, at age 78.

Mary Fritz represented the 90th district (Wallingford, Prospect, and Cheshire) for 32 years, serving 16 terms beginning in 1982.

She served as chairman of the Public Safety, Internship, and Executive and Legislative Nominations Committees, and held leadership positions including Assistant Deputy Speaker, Deputy Majority Leader, and Deputy Speaker.

Prior to her legislative career, she worked as a teacher in Wallingford Public Schools from 1959 to 1964 and founded Create & Play Nursery School.

She is survived by her husband William W. Fritz, six children, and fourteen grandchildren; the resolution directs the House and Senate clerks to send a copy to her family.
