The Health Care Cabinet, in collaboration with other state entities, may conduct a study on health care providers who refer patients to facilities in which the provider or their immediate family member owns a beneficial interest or has a compensation arrangement.

The study should examine the current status and regulation of such referral practices.

Upon completion, the Health Care Cabinet may submit a report to the joint standing committee on public health with findings and recommendations.

The report may include recommendations for legislation to establish a regulatory framework governing these types of referrals.

The act takes effect upon passage.
