SB 828 Summary

• Adds new definitions to Connecticut pharmacy law for "medical device and oxygen provider," "third-party logistics provider," "virtual manufacturer," and "virtual wholesale distributor" effective July 1, 2017.

• Expands the definition of "wholesaler" or "distributor" to explicitly include medical device and oxygen providers, third-party logistics providers, virtual manufacturers, and virtual wholesale distributors.

• Renumbers existing definitions in section 20-571 from (15)-(25) to (16)-(26) to accommodate the new "medical device and oxygen provider" definition as (15).

• Clarifies that virtual manufacturers and virtual wholesale distributors are subject to registration and regulatory requirements under Connecticut's drug wholesale and distribution framework.

• Updates section 21a-70 to reference the expanded definitions and allow the Commissioner of Consumer Protection or designee to oversee these additional categories of drug-related entities.
