Police Officer Standards and Training Council must develop a model training policy for armed security personnel at independent colleges by October 1, 2017, in consultation with the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges.

Independent institutions of higher education must require uncertified armed security personnel to complete training meeting or exceeding the model policy standards by July 1, 2018.

Independent institutions must submit compliance reports to the Police Officer Standards and Training Council every two years beginning July 1, 2018.

Institutions reviewing security protocol plans must consider safety and security audits conducted after July 1, 2017 when determining if plan revisions are needed.
