Requires all local and regional boards of education to appoint one or more school nurses or nurse practitioners qualified under State Board of Education regulations developed in consultation with the Department of Public Health.

School nurses and nurse practitioners employed by boards of education or nonpublic schools must submit to criminal history records checks under section 29-17a.

School nurses appointed on or after July 1, 2018, must complete at least 12 hours of continuing education approved by the Department of Education within one year of appointment, in collaboration with the Association of School Nurses of Connecticut.

Each school district shall participate in an annual health services program information survey conducted by the State Board of Education, effective July 1, 2017.

Restructures the School Nurse Advisory Council membership to include representatives from bargaining organizations, nursing associations, school administrators, medical advisors, and the Commissioners of Education and Public Health as ex-officio nonvoting members.
