Local and regional boards of education must annually provide training to all paraprofessionals beginning with the school year commencing July 1, 2017, and each school year thereafter.

Training must inform paraprofessionals of their duties and responsibilities and be tailored to the specific needs of the student or students they will be assigned to.

Training must be provided before the start of the school year by the paraprofessional's immediate supervisor and the paraprofessional must be paid during the training.

Paraprofessionals hired after the school year begins or reassigned during the school year must receive training before their assignment or reassignment begins.
