Repeals and replaces Section 20-34 of the general statutes to redefine the practice of naturopathy, effective October 1, 2018.

Expands the definition of naturopathy to include diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of disease through natural healing methods approved by the State Board of Naturopathic Examiners and the Commissioner of Public Health.

Clarifies that naturopathic practice includes counseling, physical sciences (articular manipulation, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, phototherapy), and material sciences (nutrition, dietetics, phytotherapy, natural substances).

Authorizes naturopathic physicians to order diagnostic tests, medical devices, durable medical equipment, and perform procedures including ear wax removal, spirometry, tuberculosis testing, and venipuncture for blood testing.

Establishes a procedure allowing the Department of Public Health, in consultation with the State Board of Naturopathic Examiners, to create educational and examination requirements for naturopathic physicians to prescribe and dispense prescription medicines, with a naturopathic formulary updated at least every three years.
