Allows licensed dentists to delegate fluoride varnish treatments to dental assistants, in addition to existing delegated procedures like taking x-rays and dental impressions.

Allows dentists to delegate fluoride varnish treatments to expanded function dental assistants, alongside other delegated procedures such as placing temporary restorations, dental sealants, and coronal polishing.

Defines "fluoride varnish treatment" as the application of a highly concentrated form of fluoride to the surface of the teeth.

Requires all delegated procedures including fluoride varnish treatments to be performed under direct supervision (for dental assistants) or direct or indirect supervision (for expanded function dental assistants), with the supervising dentist assuming responsibility.

Effective date is October 1, 2018.
