Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection must review current methods of funding disaster assistance to state residents and relocated U.S. citizens who are victims of natural disasters.

Review shall evaluate whether assistance is provided through the most cost-efficient, equitable, and effective means, with consultation from other state agencies as deemed necessary.

Commissioner must submit review results and recommendations to joint standing committees on appropriations and public safety/security on or before October 1, 2018.

Report shall include recommendations for revisions to disaster funding assistance and any necessary legislation to implement such revisions.

Act takes effect immediately upon passage.
