Reduces maximum misdemeanor sentences from one year to 364 days for any offense previously punishable by imprisonment of up to one year, effective July 1, 2018.

Maintains that convictions subject to the reduced sentence remain classified as misdemeanors despite the lower maximum penalty.

Applies retroactively to all sentences imposed before, on, or after July 1, 2018.

Allows persons sentenced to one year imprisonment prior to July 1, 2018 for eligible offenses to petition the sentencing court to modify their sentence to the new 364-day maximum at any time, regardless of conviction date.
