Repeals and replaces Section 38a-782a of the general statutes, effective July 1, 2018, to establish continuing education requirements for licensed insurance producers.

Requires the commissioner to suspend continuing education requirements for public officials (state-wide elected officers, General Assembly members, or Congress members) during periods when they are prohibited from selling insurance.

Grants at least six hours of continuing education credit to insurance producers who are active members of a state-wide professional insurance producer association during any two-year period requiring six or more hours of continuing education.

Defines "state-wide professional insurance producer association" as an organization existing for 10+ years, deriving membership from state-licensed insurance producers, and dedicated to promoting professional integrity and business practices.

Requires active association members to certify they attended at least one educational meeting or conference sponsored by the association and read applicable ethical standards during the relevant two-year period.
